If you’ve been in my car lately, you’ll know that I have become obsessed with a Japanese band called GO!GO!7188. The band only has three members: Yuu on lead guitar and vocals, Akko on bass guitar and backup vocals, and Taakii (japanese for Turkey) on drums. They tend to limit themselves to those three instruments, and so all their songs have a raw quality. Their style combines surf, punk, rock, and pop to produce a sound that they call, “natural guitar sound cute punk.” I’m no expert on music or guitar, but Yuu’s playing is really awe inspiring to me.
